Health Hub to join the 16th Health Expo Athens

The Health Hub is participating in the annual 16ης HEALTH EXPO ATHENS taking place on 15–16 February in Athens, at the Megaron International Conference Centre. The event is the largest conference and exhibition in the pharmacy sector, with a continuous presence for more than 15 years.

On Saturday, 15 February, representatives of the European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) Health Hub will present how artificial intelligence is driving the digital transformation of healthcare and the pharmaceutical sector.

The conference will open with welcoming remarks by Antonios Avgerinos, Pharmacist, Retired Major General, and President of the Hellenic Red Cross, as well as Konstantinos Demetzos, Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology and Nanotechnology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) and President of the Hellenic Pharmaceutical Society (EFE).

This will be followed by a presentation by Mr. Themis Exarchos, Associate Professor at the Laboratory of Bioinformatics and Human Electrophysiology of the Department of Informatics at Ionian University. He will present the role, operation, services, and European-level collaborations of the European Digital Innovation Hub – Health Hub.

Next, Mr. Evangelos Karalis, Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacokinetics at the Department of Pharmacy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, will discuss clinical research and the contribution of Artificial Intelligence to reshaping scientific knowledge, extending the discussion to the new technological possibilities in the pharmaceutical field.

Ms. Marilena Vlachou, Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology at the Department of Pharmacy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, will continue the session by focusing on the contribution of Artificial Intelligence to the design of pharmaceutical dosage forms, demonstrating how innovative technologies are influencing the development of new medicines.

In addition, Mr. Dimitrios Vlachakis, Associate Professor of Biotechnology at the Agricultural University of Athens, will highlight the importance of Artificial Intelligence in driving biotechnological developments in the fields of personalized health and drug design, offering deeper insight into the future prospects of biotechnology.

Following the previous presentations, Mr. Aristidis Vrachatis, Assistant Professor at the Department of Informatics of Ionian University, will focus on the developments, challenges, and future outlook of Artificial Intelligence in the pharmaceutical sector, while also presenting a use case based on a service provided by the Health Hub.

The conference will conclude with an open discussion and a Q&A session, giving participants the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers and further explore the topics that were presented.
