From Innovation to Impact: Co-creating Solutions for Cancer Care

From Innovation to Impact: Co-creating Solutions for Cancer Care

Every new therapy, diagnostic method, or digital health solution that can be used in clinical practice today is the result of a long process of research, evaluation, and collaboration. Yet developing an innovative technology is only the beginning. The real challenge is turning it into a solution that can be integrated into everyday clinical practice and deliver meaningful benefits for patients.

This is precisely the focus of the 3rd Synergies Forum on Cancer: Policy, Research & Funding Strategies, which brings together representatives from the scientific community, policymakers, patient organisations, healthcare providers, and industry to explore how a stronger ecosystem can support cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

The Next Step Beyond Innovation

Over the past few years, Europe has made significant investments in research and the development of new health technologies. At the same time, initiatives such as Horizon Europe, the EU Cancer Mission, and the European Health Data Space are creating a new environment for healthcare innovation.

Despite this progress, the biggest challenge remains the same: transforming knowledge into solutions that can be applied in practice. Moving from the laboratory to the hospital, from a research concept to everyday clinical practice, and from technological development to a better patient experience requires more than funding. It requires collaboration.

From Research to Real-World Solutions

Digital health has become the connecting force across the healthcare innovation ecosystem. Data, artificial intelligence, digital platforms, and interoperable infrastructures enable researchers, healthcare professionals, businesses, and public organisations to collaborate more effectively, make better-informed decisions, and accelerate the development of innovative healthcare solutions.

At the same time, innovative health solutions are no longer evaluated solely on their scientific excellence. Increasingly, they are assessed on their ability to be integrated into healthcare systems, address real patient needs, and generate measurable impact.

In this context, co-creation between researchers, public authorities, businesses, startups, hospitals, and patient organisations is becoming increasingly important.

The Role of Health Hub

As the European Digital Innovation Hub for healthcare and pharmaceuticals in Greece, Health Hub supports businesses, healthcare organisations, and professionals in harnessing the potential of digital innovation, building strategic collaborations, and transforming innovative ideas into practical solutions with real-world impact.

As part of this mission, Health Hub’s Chief Operating Officer, Maria Pournari, will participate in the session “Co-creating Real World Healthcare Solutions” at the 3rd Synergies Forum on Cancer: Policy, Research & Funding Strategies, contributing to the discussion on how collaboration, digital health, and innovation can accelerate the transformation of research into solutions that make a meaningful difference for patients.
